Acclaimed comic book scribe Joshua Williamson has announced his imminent departure from two ongoing DC Comics series. The writer will leave Batman and Robin and Green Arrow.
Williamson announced his departure from both titles in a Substack newsletter. Batman and Robin #13 will be his final issue of the series, while Green Arrow #17 and Green Arrow Annual will be his last for the Emerald Archer. Williamson explained his decision to hand over the reins of both series to other creatives, “I’ve been feeling some burnout for a bit now,” he wrote. “I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for a few years and it was very clear that I needed to take some time off and reduce my schedule drastically. I’ve been writing a LOT of books over the last few years, and as much as I loved every minute of it, I need to recharge and reset. Spend more time with my young family and adjust my priorities.”
Williamson is crafting the Big Blue Boy Scout’s arc post-Absolute Power and wants to give the right amount of attention to that story. “The new arc of Superman after Absolute Power is a MASSIVE one. Lots of big moves happening there, and I recognized I needed to spend some time on it to really make it land in the way I want it to,” Williamson explained.
