The month of December has become the Month of the Avengers, more or less, as the four trailers for Avengers: Doomsday dominate headlines to end 2025. That is not the only Marvel blockbuster being discussed, however, and neither is the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day film with all of its Sadie Sink rumors. There are plenty of Black Panther 3 rumors to go around, and despite its release being not so near.We now know the third installment will likely be named Black Panther: Shadows of Wakanda and that it’s reportedly set to release in 2028, following the events of Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), and everyone, at this point, should be familiar with the groundswell of support pushing for Ryan Coogler to name Damson Idris as the next Black Panther (and the exciting ways it could be made to happen), and in a film that will also star iconic actor Denzel Washington, but Coogler just dropped a bit of a bombshell — about his second installment in the franchise, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Per Coogler (see above), in a recent Q&A with Josh Horowitz, there was an entirely different script for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, initially, that was ultimately scrapped for the one we’re all now familiar with: Shuri accepting the mantle in the face of annihilation at the hands of Namor. In the scrapped script, things went differently prior to the untimely death of acclaimed actor Chadwick Boseman, including an undisclosed Marvel character that was to be revealed, Coogler having to pivot to the rewrite while rightfully grieving the loss of his good friend, Boseman.
