After getting a glimpse at Zatanna Zatara’s tragic, mysterious past, Zatanna: Bring Down the House #1 drops readers right in the middle of all the glitz and glamour that Las Vegas has to offer. There, during one of her regular stage shows, Zatanna confronts her apparent stalker, an enigmatic woman who has been in attendance night after night. As bad as a would-be stalker is on its own, things quickly take a turn for the worse when pieces of her stage begin coming to life. As the mysterious woman explains, all of this ties back to her father and the untimely demise that his daughter was responsible for.
Much like the Zatanna of Bring Down the House, the original, pre-Crisis version of the character took up a career as a stage magician, which was undercut by the mysteries surrounding her father’s demise. To uncover the truth, she enlisted the help of numerous DC superheroes including Hawkman, Hal Jordan, and the Atom. After teaming up with other heroes across various adventures, Zatanna bonds with the Justice League of America and is invited to join their ranks.
