EXCLUSIVE: The Avengers Finally Help the X-Men in the Fall of X

Last year, at the start of The Fall of X, the villainous anti-mutant organization, Orchis, devastated the mutant nation known as Krakoa, and scattered the X-Men throughout the Marvel Universe. Orchis’ hole card, which allowed it to force the remaining mutant heroes on Earth underground, was the fact that Orchis had developed a “back door” in all Krakoan medicine, which was used by nearly every human on the planet. Orchis could kill anyone who used the medicine, so the X-Men were forced to do what Orchis wanted (while, of course, continuing to fight against Orchis from the shadows, with plausible deniability). Finally, with the help of Spider-Man, Norman Osborn, and the High Evolutionary, the X-Men canceled out the ability for Orchis to hurt anyone with the medicine. This led to the X-Men being able to openly attack Orchis, and in this CBR exclusive preview of Avengers #12, we learn that that goes for the Avengers, as well (it recently tied Spider-Man in, also).Avengers #12 is from writer Jed MacKay (soon to be the writer of X-Men, as well), artist Francesco Mortarino, colorist Federico Blee and letterer Cory Petit (with a Stuart Immonen cover), and it spotlights the X-Men’s biggest Avenger ally throughout the Fall of X, which has been Tony Stark, who was also blackmailed until allowing Orchis to take over his technology to build new, improved Sentinels. He has been working with the X-Men behind the scenes (even marrying Emma Frost of the X-Men in her disguise as his personal assisstant to cover for their working arrangement together). In the preview pages, the opening of the story is literally Tony explaining that he is giving them the word, and the word is “Go.”
