We are celebrating Wolverine’s 50th anniversary by counting down YOUR picks for the Greatest Wolverine comic book stories ever told! You all voted, I added up your votes, and now I will count down your votes, five stories a day for however long that takes to get to #1!
These Wolverine stories will come from his own solo series, plus notable team-ups with other superheroes, as well as issues of X-Men where he was the main character in the story (this was especially common in the time before he got his own solo series, of course).
Meanwhile, Wolverine went through a grueling battle in Uncanny X-Men #205 (which will be featured later on the countdown), and had been spending the time recuperating. However, he couldn’t remain on the sidelines when he saw Rachel begin to go down a dark path. You see, the villainous Selene, of the Hellfire Club, had almost killed Rachel in an earlier confrotation (before Rachel bonded with the Phoenix Force), and Rachel’s life was saved by a friendly nightclub owner. Well, Selene repaid him for his kindness by murdering him. So once Rachel gained her increased powers from the Phoenix Force, she headed off to go murder Selene, to avenge Rachel’s friend (and really, everyone ELSE Selene had murdered over her long, long life).
