There was a teppanyaki restaurant we really liked going to, which is where the food is prepared tableside, and the chef will do all sorts of tricks and make a performance out of the meal. I thought it would be fun to see those tricks translated to a grander stage. Fighting monsters to turn them into ingredients felt like a natural fit.
