One Piece: Egghead’s Skipped Plot Points

When the Straw Hat Pirates were last seen, they had plenty on their plates. The Seraphim were on the attack, Jewelry Bonney was looking at Bartholomew Kuma’s memories, Vegapunk York was revealed as a traitor, two more Vegapunks were dead, three of Luffy’s friends were petrified, and Lucci and Kaku were uncuffed. One Piece cut away from all this to focus on fights with the other Emperors and the Reverie, so fans were left wondering what would happen to Luffy and Co. for months. When the focus was finally returned to Egghead in Chapter 1089, “Hostage Situation,” all the Straw hats’ immediate problems were resolved. The Seraphim were presumably dealt with, Jewelry Bonney wasn’t looking at Kuma’s memories anymore, York was apprehended, Luffy’s friends were back to normal, and Lucci was just there. That’s a lot to skip over, especially since it pertains to the main cast. If fans were given a choice between seeing what’s happening to other fan favorites and what happened to the Straw Hats, they’d likely choose the former and take a good guess on what happened to the latter. However, there was still plenty of story potential to glean from this leg of the Straw Hats’ voyage that now runs the risk of vanishing into obscurity (unless Toei animates it).The Seraphim posed a surprising challenge for the Straw Hat Pirates. Even the Monster Trio, for how powerful they’ve become, couldn’t easily injure these Pacifistas through their Lunarian durability. Then again, the Seraphim weren’t strong enough to do much to the monster trio; Sanji even took a blow to the face to flex on S-Shark. For these three Straw Hats, the Seraphim were serviceable mini-bosses at worst. Given how the Egghead Arc isn’t in its final stages yet, that’s all they needed to be. The other Straw Hats, however, won’t likely find the Seraphim as manageable. The last time S-Snake was seen, she petrified three people (not counting York) and presumably destroyed a fourth. S-Hawk also ran away to pick off the weaker Straw Hats, albeit with Zoro and Kaku in hot pursuit.RELATED: One Piece Theory: What Will Rob Lucci Do After Egghead?RELATED: One Piece: Luffy Gear 5 Is About To Give Super Saiyan Goku a Run For Its Berries
